My real name is Lauren, but Lila Noire is my trademarked brand and the embodiment of all my artistic endeavors. Years ago, I needed a stage name for my burlesque trio, and it had to feel just right. I knew I wanted to use Noire, a nod to both my French Canadian roots and my natural pull toward a darker, moodier aesthetic. Lila came from a brainstorming session with my mom and grandmother. My grandmother suggested it; it had always been her favorite name, and she used it whenever we played pretend growing up. I already had such fond memories attached to it, and since it even started with an “L” like my real name, I knew it was meant to be.

Today, Lila Noire is still my stage name with The Sparkling Diamonds, and also the storefront for my pressed flower art. It’s become my brand, a symbol of determination, and the expression of my creative self in whatever medium she takes shape. It’s also a quiet tribute to my beloved Gram, who shared and encouraged my love for piano, flowers, and art.
