Hi! My name is Lauren, the creator behind Lila Noire. My passions are primarily dance and piano, but I’ve always dabbled in arts and crafts, especially collage and decoupage. I have been creating my flower pieces since December 2022 after making some as a gift and falling in love with the process. I love and revere nature, but flowers have always been an obsession - in my art, my decor,  my tattoos, my clothing - they are one of the most beautiful things Mother Earth offers us freely, and I try to surround myself with them. I think this is why creating art with real flowers has struck such a meaningful chord with me. My all-time favorite flowers are roses and Queen Anne’s Lace, and you might notice my work is also heavy in cats, moons, and butterflies!

Choosing my burlesque stage name years ago was a struggle. I knew I wanted to use Noire because it means “black” in French and seemed fitting: I am very French Canadian and gravitate to the darker side. Lila was decided during a brainstorm session with my Grandmother and Mom. My grandmother (pictured in the photo) mentioned it because it had always been her favorite name and she would always be “Lila” when we played pretend as a kid. It was nostalgic, had a special connection to my Gram, and even started with an L like my real first name - it had to be mine!

Lila Noire is still my stage name with The Sparkling Diamonds, but it’s also become my brand, the encapsulation of my determination, and the embodiment of my creative self in whatever medium she manifests at the moment. It’s also an ode to my lovely Gram, who loved flowers and plants just as much as me.

Here's to strong women, may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.
